Manufacturing
These wallets are ink-jet printed on Tyvek and requires only three steps to produce: print, cut, and fold. The design requires no glue, sewing, or tape for manufacturing. The process is simple and very cost effective, and is manufactured after the order is placed. Each wallet is custom and completely recyclable.
Distribution
FoldYourOwn.com sells wallets directly to consumers. The customer is able to upload his or her designs or choose from a library of predesigned wallets. After submitting a design, the customer holds the option of adding the design to the library of wallets for others to purchase. Using just-in-time manufacturing keeps upfront costs almost zero.
Halfway through production and testing customer feedback informed us that we should change our brand name. The Triceracat cryptid was not clear enough so we renamed to FoldYourOwn. We created a new logo and rolled it out on the ordering site and printed it inside the new wallets.
Our wallets were selected as a gift for the Horton Distinguished Speaker, Alec Baldwin, in 2012.
A custom run of branded wallets were used as thank you gifts to the speakers and volunteers at the student run conference Thought@Work 2012.
We were also featured in the March 2013 Issue of The Reporter.
