Bandsaw Box
This bandsaw box was designed to teach children and adults how to use basic wood-shop equipment. The process teaches the student about wood grain, wood selection, dimensional stability of wood, and finishing options. The build teaches use of the bandsaw, drill press, drum sander, drill press, and table-saw. The mahogany box (left) was built by a 12 year old and the Wenge (right) was built by me as a demo. The build takes approximately 5 hours, including glue set time used as a lunch or dinner break. The box can not be opened until the last step of the build and makes for a special event to celebrate the completion of the students first wood shop project.
